BT Young Scientist

Last Thursday we went to the BT Young Scientist Exhibition in the RDS. A group from our school were entered and were highly commended for their work. Their project was the ideal conditions for learning in primary school. They tested different types of light, times of day and with or without music.  In the end they found out that morning classes with natural lighting and music without lyrics in the background helped the children learn.

The exhibition itself was very good. It was great to walk around the projects and see what people our age had created. One of the best ideas I saw was a Life Ring box that had an alarm. The title of the project was "Wise Buoys" and they had come up with a device that set off an alarm and called the police when a life ring was removed. This would help people who had fallen in the water and stop the life rings being stolen and vandalised.
My friends from Gonzaga also had a project at the exhibition. They had applied maths and algebra to a computer game called Minesweeper. It was very complicated but smart.
So overall it was a great day and I learned a lot  x
